CHRISTmas is a very busy time of the year! We get so busy, running around doing the things we should do for Christmas. Decorating, baking, shopping, entertaining, ornament making, cooking, parties, plays, cards and oh so many more things to do, this is what fill our days during Christmas. Family and friends occupy are thought and time during CHRISTmas. By now I am sure you think either I don’t know how to type, my computer keyboard is broke or I just don’t know how to use capital letter. But actually I have intentionally made the first part of CHRISTmas in uppercase letter, because the real reason for the season is the birth of Christ. The other things that make up CHRISTmas are nice but Christ is why we have CHRISTmas.
During the December devotional challenge we first read about the death of Christ in Matthew 26 – 27, and in Matthew 28 you read about the resurrection of Christ. On CHRISTmas eve and CHRISTmas day you read of the birth of Christ. We celebrate the birth of Christ during CHRISTmas if there was not a birth of Christ we would not have a Savior of the world.
In John 3:16 it tells us:
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Christ was God only begotten Son, he was send to the world to save the world. This was a free gift to all of mankind and all you have to do is believe in Christ.
In Romans 3:23 it tells us:
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
In the October Devotional Challenge, we learned that Adam and Eve sinned and that was the start of sin. Every person since then has sinned except for Christ. No matter what we do we cannot do enough good to get to heaven.
In Ephesians 2:8,9 it tells us:
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
All we have to do is realize we are sinner and that we cannot get to heaven on our own, no matter how good we are we need Christ. Christ came to earth and lived a perfect life, was crucified and rose again to prove he was God. We only need to accept his free gift of salvation and we will be saved. We will live a life eternally in heaven with Him.
