Recently I was able to go resort hop a little bit. Resort hopping is fun and best of all it is one of the FREE activities you can do at Disney. The best time to resort hop at Disney is at Christmas. ALL of the resorts are dressed up their prettiest and all of them have elaborate trees each themed to the resort. Here is the tree at the Grand Floridian. The trees are massive and you could probably spend all day looking at its’ decorations while listening to the piano player playing Christmas classics. The Grand Floridian also hands out FREE fire roasted Chestnuts.
The masterpiece of the Grand Floridian though is the very ornate Gingerbread House. It is almost 2 stories high. The details are perfect. They even put hidden mickeys over it so you can have some additional fun while looking at the house. During selected times you are able to see a demonstration of how they made certain parts of it and can also sample some gingerbread. If the sample wasn’t enough (which it never is) you can buy some gingerbread from the little shop set up INSIDE of the Gingerbread house. I think that is super cool! This years Gingerbread House featured a real smoking chimney!
So, have you ever visited the Gingerbread House at the Grand Floridian?
A special thanks to my friend Christa for taking the beautiful pictures you see in this post. She is the owner of A Moment in Time Photography. If you are in the Tampa Bay area, you should book her for photo sessions.
